Ms Anonymous (name kept private on her request) is a grade 8 student at Branton Junior High School in Calgary, Canada. She attended classes in school and online during the COVID pandemic. Here are the experiences she shared with Palette under our Learning and Teaching During COVID series.
It was tough to remain focused:
“I faced some concentration and organization issues here and there, but other than that it was fine.”
Here are the advantageous things that occurred throughout the struggle:
“Yeah, I really enjoyed working at my own pace during online learning, working out my own schedule without feeling the burden of anxiety, and I enjoy being alone at times.”
The technologies used for online learning:
“Google Meet, Slides, Docs, etc.”
Some impacts of COVID on her life outside of school:
“Not being able to visit my family and friends, wanting to travel, and just overall anxiety about the whole situation. This is my first time going through something like this.”
