Submit

Guidelines: 

  1. Email all submissions to submissions@palettemagz.com with one of the following subjects that best describe your work: Fiction, Poetry, STEM, Nonfiction, Art and Photography, Videos, News and Events, Brain Teasers, Other Content. See guidelines for each category below.
  2. Please include your name, grade, school name and location (city and country) in your email. You can also include your picture (png or jpg), a 50-word statement about you and your social media, if you would like these to be published.
  3. Please limit to one submission per email. You are welcome to send as many submissions as you like in separate emails. 
  4. Attach submission to your email in doc or docx (Microsoft Word) or txt (Text) file formats. 
  5. If your contribution includes pictures/graphics they should be attached in png or jpg formats and should be of good quality.  
  6. The maximum allowed email size is 20MB
  7. The editors will review your submission and inform you of a decision in about one week.

By submitting your work to Palette you agree to the following Editorial and Copyright Policy:

- You and your parent(s)/guardian(s) consent to share and publish your information and work with paletteMagZ.com. 

- The submission is your original work and any sources of information used to prepare your work have been referenced inline within parentheses or listed at the end of your article. (See STEM and Nonfiction categories below.)

- You transfer all copyrights to your submitted work to paletteMagZ.com. This means that Palette can reproduce your work online of in print without seeking further permission from you.    

- You have not and will not submit/publish this work to another online or print forum unless you get approval from paletteMagz.com. The only exception is videos already posted on YouTube. (All such requests should be sent to editors@palettemagz.com.)

- Palette is a student run multimedia magazine and so we do not pay for contributions. However, we do issue a certificate of contribution. In addition, we promote our contributors through social media and on our website. 

- You declare that the submitted content is suitable for audiences attending grade school.

- The editors reserve the right to modify your work to meet quality and formatting standards. Editors' decision to accept/reject/modify your work is final. 

Fiction: 

Palette accepts short stories, novella, illustrated stories, comics, humour, jokes and other types of fiction. Modern forms such as six, ten, fifty and hundred word stories are also welcome. There are no minimum or maximum length requirements.  

Poetry: 

All forms of poetry are welcome. Some examples include rhyme, haiku, free verse, sonnet, ballad, epic, song and so on. There are no minimum or maximum length requirements.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) 

We are always looking for interesting facts, new developments, essays and articles on STEM topics. You can include charts, tables, figures or illustrations, if needed. You must cite/reference the source of any material included in your article that is not your own work. Sources could include books, magazines, websites, encyclopedias and other people. A source can be cited inline within parentheses or can be listed the end of your article.

Nonfiction 

Essays and articles on current affairs, business and economy, fashion, sports, history, social issues and other areas are welcome. The tone can be serious or humorous and you can include charts, figures or illustrations. You must cite/reference the source of any content included in your article that is not your own work. Sources could include books, magazines, websites, encyclopedias and other people. A source can be cited inline within parentheses or can be listed the end of your article.

Art & Photography

We seek physical and digital art including drawings, paintings, designs, cartoons, sculptures, interesting or artistic photographs and more. Please submit a high quality picture of your work in .png or .jpg formats. 

Videos

Palette is a multimedia magazine and visual content is a focus of ours. We publish animations, skits, music and dance, art and craft videos, informative videos, fun TikTok style short videos, game plays, reviews of any kind, cooking, travel and fashion related content and more. Upload your videos to YouTube and email us a link or write to us to discuss alternative submission methods.  

Brain Teasers 

Palette publishes math and logic puzzles, riddles, word puzzles, mazes and other kinds of brain teasers provided it is your original work. 

Other Content 

Want to submit something not covered by above categories? No problem, describe the work in your email and fire away!

News & Events

We publish news and events that are of interest to our audience (grade school students). 

News related to student-led initiatives, education, science and technology, curriculum, extra curricular activities, student clubs that are of broad interest to our community will be published.  

Some examples of events we would like to include are upcoming student contests, mentorship opportunities, professional development events, career fairs, college and university open houses and calls for student participation in scientific, social and educational endeavours.
