Joel Bryant is a teacher at Winston Churchill High School in Lethbridge, Canada. Since the pandemic hit, he has been teaching students ranging from grade 9 to 12 both online and in school. His response to the Palette Magz’ Learning and Teaching during COVID survey illustrates how school life has evolved during this period.

Joel went through some adjustments during this pandemic:

“Attendance, assignment submission, engagement, turning cameras on!

I tried to be flexible in how I delivered content and expectations for deadlines. It was also difficult to connect with students individually.”

Despite the setbacks, he did find things to look forward to:

“Other than certain types of flexibility, and certain projects which were more accessible at home, overall, it was much worse than in person classes.”

These are the technologies he used due to the pandemic.

“Microsoft Teams, FlipGrid, PowerSchool, Microsoft Stream.”
