Nathan Chung is a grade 9 student at Westmount Charter High School in Calgary, Canada. He attended grade 9 classes in school and online during the COVID pandemic. Here are the experiences he shared with Palette under our Learning and Teaching During COVID series.

Technology he used at the time:

“Google Meet, headphones , laptops, Google Class”

These are a few hurdles that Nathan Chung came upon:

“I found it very hard to focus during online school, so I worked a bunch with friends to help me get back on track.”

There were some good times as well during this learning curve:

“It was more relaxing to work from home and I felt less pushed to go to different floors and classrooms.”

Outside of education, there was a significant impact of COVID on Nathan’s life:

“I couldn’t attend any sports curricular or educational ones, so I missed out a lot on my activities.”
