The Monolith – Part 2

RECAP:

Recently I had this bizarre dream about these weird sounds and an orange light coming near my friend Luna’s house. It seemed like everyone had disappeared last night because everything was silent, and Luna had disappeared when I called her. I tried to be positive and thought it was all a prank, but it turns out it was not. At least that is what I think. I had gone to her house and it was completely dark. The worst thing was that when I entered the house the door had shut on me and left me in complete darkness. I had sensed that the place was definitely not her house. As I walked blindly deeper, I tripped over something and fell in an endless hole. That was when I had woken up by the sound of my dad calling me. It seemed to be all a dream. I went downstairs and told my mom about my adventure and she assured me that it was definitely my imagination. My dad was watching the news and they were talking about a monolith that had appeared in Utah. People thought that aliens had something to do with it because of its sudden appearance but others thought that there were some artists who were playing a trick on everyone. Questions formed in my head and I did not know what to think. My mom had interrupted my thoughts and told me to get the mail. I went outside and looked inside the pocket attached to the front door. That was where I saw the note that was in my dream. The one I had written for my parents to see where I was last night.

I put the note in my hoodie pocket and brought the mail inside. I wondered if Luna experienced anything I had yesterday. I told my mom that I was going to her house and she was ok with it. I quickly texted her that I was coming and off I went back down the sidewalk. I walked up the narrow alley and up the stairs that lead to her house. I rang the bell and waited. No one responded. Now I was worried if she actually disappeared. I rang the bell again with a sudden urge of fright and finally Luna had answered the door. I was so glad to see her!

I took my shoes off and then we went up the stairs to her room. Luna’s room was filled with vibrant shades of blue and green. It is very spacious, and it is a very comfy place to chat. I sat down on the bed and asked her what she was up to yesterday hoping she would say something that was related to what happened last night but of course she did not. Luna instead told me about a new restaurant she went to with her family and suggested that I should go there too. Then Luna asked me what I was up to. I decided that I should tell her about my dream. “Well not much, just the same old boring stuff I do everyday except last night was quite an adventure!” I said. Luna got excited and asked me what had happened. I told parts of the story. From the time I had called her to when I had gone outside to go to her house. I also mentioned the note, but I did not tell her about the sounds or the light because I thought that the story would seem a bit fictional to Luna. I really needed her help, and I did not want her to think that I was making things up!

When I was finished, I took out the note and showed it to her. She was shocked but her face seemed very sarcastic. “You don’t believe me, do you?” I asked. “No, I am very surprised, that’s all”. She replied. I asked her if she would help me figure out who or what was behind the mystery and Luna said that she would be happy to. I felt a lot better once someone would be willing to help me. We started brainstorming ideas, but we came up with nothing.

Luna suggested that we should do something else fun for a bit so that I could get things off of my mind. I agreed and we went down to watch some tv. For a while I was able to get my mind off of my dream, but it kept bugging me. After we finished a movie my dad called me and told me to come back home. Luna said that she would come with me as well. 

We walked outside silently not knowing what to talk about. Luna was walking awfully slow, so I walked in front of her. I kept walking and it seemed as though Luna was not there. When I looked back, Luna was GONE! I searched all around trying to look for her, but I found nothing. Luna’s sudden absence was very frightening to even think about. The sunlight turned into dark clouds and soon enough it started to rain. I started to panic and ran towards home. I ran as fast as I could. My heart was pounding like a drum and the rain did the same. Soon enough lightning struck from the heavy clouds. What was going on! I was so terrified, and I had no idea how all of this was happening! 

I finally arrived home and I was relieved to see that it would be safe inside. It was like I had just ran a marathon! I went up the stairs exhausted and punched in the number code of the door. I opened the door to see no one was inside. It was all dark. “Not this again!” I groaned. I stepped inside and took my jacket off. It was like I was in a loop but this time I was in my own house. The door stayed open as I walked past the entrance of the house. 

Suddenly, the light went on and everyone shouted “SURPRISE”! Luna, her family, and my parents were there! I was mad because this prank was by far the worst trick anyone had pulled on me, but I was also very happy to see everyone! I hugged everyone and as, I did I asked, “So this was all a prank right?” Luna nodded and explained that my mom had texted Luna to come put a note in our mail for a prank. Then when I called her, she taped a piece of balck cloth to the camera. She did not realise that I was talking because her speaker got covered as well. Turns out I had taken it too far by overthinking and so they thought that they should tell me through a surprise. I asked if they were behind the orange light and the sounds hoping they would say yes but everyone went silent. Luna broke the silence and said that I had never told her about that. It was my turn to be silent now. “If it was not you guys who were behind it, who was?” I asked. That question left me hanging on a dead end.
