Kristi Legge is a teacher at G.S. Lakie Middle School in Lethbridge, Canada. Since the pandemic hit, she has been teaching students ranging from grade 6,7 and 8 both online and in school. Her response to the Palette Magz’ Learning and Teaching during COVID survey illustrate how school life has evolved during this period.
The struggle Kristi went through in the new way of teaching online.
“It is much more challenging to connect with students online. I also find it hard to teach option class when students are in the same cohort.”
Behind all the struggle was some positivity to:
“I have improved my technology skills. I did enjoy working from home when we had the opportunity last spring.”
The tech Kristi used to teach online:
“Coding, Music/Video Editing, Online Games, Graphic design, Music, Youtube tutorials, Virtual tours”
There was an big effect on her life outside of school:
“I have an only child and it has been hard to see her so isolated from her friends. I have also not seen my brother in two years because he lives in Australia and is not permitted to leave the country.
